Description
Transport Route Planning & Optimisation:
- You will be responsible for planning and organising the most efficient delivery routes for the fleet, ensuring that all transport operations are carried out on time with minimal delays. You’ll constantly monitor real-time data and adjust plans as necessary, considering traffic, weather conditions, and customer priorities.
Real-Time Monitoring & Issue Resolution:
- Oversee all overnight transport activities, monitoring drivers and vehicles. If any delays or issues arise, you’ll act swiftly to address the situation, re-route vehicles, and inform all relevant parties to ensure minimal disruption to the schedule.
Communication & Coordination:
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and the day shift team to ensure a seamless flow of information and a smooth transition between shifts.
Compliance & Safety Oversight:
- Ensure that all transport operations comply with company policies and industry regulations. This includes overseeing driver safety and ensuring all vehicle checks are completed to meet legal standards.
Data Reporting & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of all overnight activities, delays, and problem resolutions. Provide management with reports that help improve operational performance and provide transparency.
Handover to Day Shift:
- Provide a thorough handover to the day shift, ensuring they’re up to speed on any ongoing issues or special requirements that need to be addressed.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Profile
- Experience: 2+ years in transport planning or logistics, with fleet/transport management software experience preferred. Nightshift experience or ability to adapt to nighttime schedules is a plus.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ideally familiar with transport management or route optimisation software.
- Knowledge: Understanding of transport regulations and safety standards (e.g., HGV driver working hours).
- Traits: Motivated, independent, reliable, calm under pressure, and adaptable to changing priorities.
