Overview

As Head of Payroll, you’ll take full ownership of the end-to-end payroll operation across multiple legal entities. Reporting into the senior finance team, you’ll manage and develop a small team, ensure full legislative compliance, and drive continuous improvement in payroll processes and systems.

Description

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the payroll function for the entire group
  • Overseeing all payroll processes including RTI, PAYE, NI, auto-enrolment and benefits administration
  • Managing relationships with HMRC and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring timely production of all statutory payroll documents (e.g., P11Ds, P60s)
  • Reviewing and enhancing payroll systems and controls (ideally with Dayforce experience)
  • Leading and mentoring the payroll team
  • Acting as the internal expert on all payroll-related matters

Profile

  • Proven experience leading a payroll function, ideally in a multi-entity/group environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Experience with Dayforce (Ceridian) is highly advantageous
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Finance, HR and external agencies
  • CIPP qualification or equivalent is desirable
